22 veterans a day take their own lives. A horse can be the reason one of them doesn't.

Whispering Grace Horses pairs veterans with rescued horses on forty acres of open pasture. The program is free for every veteran who walks through our gate. Your support keeps it that way — covering hay, feed, farrier care, vet bills, paddock upkeep, and the quiet work that happens long after visitors go home.

They show up.
That's where healing begins.

— OUR MISSION —

Every veteran who walks through our gate carries a weight that words rarely reach. Every horse on our farm was once given up on — pulled from auction lots, neglect cases, racetracks. Together they find a language that doesn't need explaining.

What happens between them is not a treatment. It is a recognition. A horse will not flinch from a veteran's silence. A veteran will not ask a horse to explain itself. In that mutual quiet, something old begins to soften.

"She didn't try to fix me. She just stood there until I could stand there too."

— Marcus, U.S. Army Veteran

— WHAT WE OFFER —

Four ways in. All of them free for those who show up.

01. Ground Work

Six-week introduction. Learning to be present with a thousand-pound animal who reads every breath you take.

02. Stable Days

Open mornings for veterans to groom, feed, and simply sit with the herd. No schedule. No expectation.

03. Battle Buddies

Adopt-a-horse partnerships. One veteran. One horse. A year of standing watch over each other's recovery.

No discharge summary required. No paperwork at the gate. Just show up as you are.

04. Family Saturdays

Because the people who love a veteran are healing, too. Spouses and children welcome.

— OUR STORY —

It started with one veteran who
needed a reason to show up.

In 2014, Sergeant Eliza Hart came home from Kandahar and couldn't sleep through the night. She didn't need another appointment. She needed a reason to get out of the house. A neighbor offered her a barn job.

The barn had an old mare nobody wanted, half-blind and skittish. They called her Grace. For three months Eliza brushed her coat in silence. On the ninety-first morning, Grace rested her head on Eliza's shoulder.

That afternoon, Eliza slept for six hours. Other veterans started showing up. They didn't come for the horses. They came because the gate was open, and for the first time in a long time, nobody asked them to explain themselves.

Whispering Grace was born the following spring with one horse, one veteran, and the conviction that healing is not loud.

Today, the farm is home in Massillon, Ohio.

— VOICES FROM THE FARM —

I came here on a Tuesday convinced I'd be gone by Friday. That was four years ago. I still come every Tuesday.

James R.
Marine Corps, OEF

My husband talked more to that gelding in one afternoon than he'd talked to me in two years. I wasn't jealous. I was grateful.

Diane M.
Spouse, Navy family

There's no clock here. No outcome to chase. The horse decides when the session is over, and somehow that's the first thing that felt right.

Tomás L.
Army National Guard
